The New School of Montpelier is seeking multiple teachers holding, or able to work towards, Vermont licenses in Special Education or General Education fields to join our dynamic team. The position will be responsible for ensuring high quality and effective instruction for students on an IEP. Positions are available on our Montpelier VT and Glover VT Campus.

The teacher's primary responsibilities include: 1. Student Learning, 2. Staff Support, 3. Team Collaboration, 4. Data Collection and Reporting, and 5. Case Management.

Student Learning

- Maintain an effective, creative and success-oriented learning environment that meets the educational needs of students;

- Create engaging learning opportunities that are consistent with students' goals and are aligned with the program's mission and vision;

- Write student goal for area(s) of instruction;

- Develop instructional plans;

- Select appropriate instructional materials;

- Provide instruction for large and small groups or individuals that is consistent with the program's vision;

- Oversee and report student progress as required by the IEP, New School protocols and state and federal guidelines;

- Implement behavior plans in coordination with the clinical team;

- Integrate all therapeutic recommendations into lesson design and student interactions.

Staff Support

- Supervise special education program assistants who support student learning;

- Oversee the development of learning opportunities that are consistent with the school's vision;

- Ensure the appropriate and effective development of instructional plans;

- Provide clear expectations and instructional coaching as needed to ensure student learning;

- Monitor student learning using multiple measures and adjust instruction as necessary;

- Provide regularly scheduled staff observations and follow up.

Team Collaboration

- Participate in the coordination of all program resources (i.e. personnel, related services, instructional materials, transportation);

- Collaborate with teachers, clinical staff and related services providers;

- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians, and home care providers;

- Communicate professionally in all interactions and meetings with students, parents, collaborators and staff.

Case Management

- Collaborate with IEP teams and local school districts on the development and progress monitoring of student IEP goals/objectives/services.
