Job Summary

While at Carterra, you will develop complex instrumentation used for measuring biomolecular interactions. This includes automated fluid / sample handling mechanisms, sample preparation and sample delivery mechanisms that consist of fluidic controls, motion controls, and thermal controls.

Carterra is looking for a high energy experienced Mechanical Engineer that has experience designing products for a research laboratory setting in the life sciences industry. Carterra is a fast-paced company that needs someone who can move quickly towards engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for design of instrumentation components and integration, including mechanical motion systems, fluidics, thermal, user facing parts etc.
  • Work within the Carterra development process, conceptualize, think out of the box, design, test, and prepare for production.
  • Develop test plans to verify solutions, record results and present findings.
  • Work with vendors to ensure quality and design requirements are being met.
  • Support current products by making any needed design changes / updates.
  • Work with quality engineering and follow processes for proper release of engineering changes and new products.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated experience designing various instrumentation components preferably within the life science industry.
  • Proficient in Solidworks 2018 or later.
  • Microfluidic experience is a big plus.
  • Experience with DFM and working closely with vendors to ensure design intent is realized.
  • Ability to work well in a team of interdisciplinary engineers.
  • Highly motivated and can work extra if needed to meet deadlines.
