DEA's Salt Lake City, UT office is currently seeking a Survey Party Chief with office technician skills. This position will manage a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public and private clients. In the performance of their duties the selected candidate will mentor and coach junior staff to advance their careers within the survey profession as their individual abilities allow. Between field assignments office tasks may be assigned as needed to support survey projects and schedules using Microsoft, Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD or Microstation as their abilities allow.
Position Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Provide coordination and serves as Lead for survey crew personnel
Knowledge of field surveying practices and procedures with a working knowledge of state and federal laws affecting land surveying and boundaries
Proficient in the operation and maintenance of Trimble surveying equipment.
Must be proficient with electronic data collection systems and processes; must be able to download and process data files, perform complex survey computations using various software programs (i.e., Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD)
Thoroughly inspect and check all field deliverables for accuracy and correctness
As individual abilities allow, perform research, calculations and mapping for survey projects using AutoCAD or Microstation products.
As individual abilities allow, prepare legal descriptions, exhibits and other survey products as directed and supervised by Project Surveyor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in boundary, topographic and construction surveying
Demonstrated experience managing a survey field crew
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required
Ability to travel out of town during the week with occasional two-week trips
Current Utah Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
LSIT certification
Part 107 Certification
Bachelor's degree in Survey or related field
Laser scanning experience
Knowledge of UDOT Safety and Survey requirements
Survey office experience
