Employees in the Financial Institutions Examiner III position work in a team environment to conduct examinations of depository institutions (including banks, industrial banks, and credit unions) to determine their financial condition and compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines. Examinations involve preparing detailed written and verbal reports, and include on-site contact with institution officers, directors and employees. Examiner III s may also conduct examinations of money service businesses subject to the department s jurisdiction. Examiner III s also provide technical expertise in a specialty area, train less-experienced examiners, and conduct special projects for agency management.
Examiners participate in a hybrid work environment with most field work conducted on-site at institutions, and some conducted working from home, or from the office. Examiners can spend roughly 20 percent of their time traveling, including overnight travel both within and outside the state, to perform examinations and to attend training.
Candidates must be residents of the state of Utah. Use of a private vehicle, subject to reimbursement, is required to arrive at field sites.
