Job ID: 19397 The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an experienced engineer to support development of a K8s-based Platform to integrate secure development and operations for military test and training customers. This effort will require significant system engineering skills to comprehend and integrate a complex military system of systems, and significant K8s and Platform Engineering skills to design and implement a product to deliver the required functionality. Due to the complexity of the overall system and the intense passion of stakeholders in this critical mission area, collaborative skills (with technical, operational, and program leadership colleagues) will be critical to success. This position is located in Ogden, UT. Roles and responsibilities associated with this position:
Comprehend complex system requirements and architect a solution to provide the needed capability while honoring the constraints of secure/sensitive and no-fail missions
Build and evolve an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to meet stakeholder requirements
Design and implement a DevSecOps solution aligning with modern DoD guidance for an ATO and/or continuous ATO
Build proof-of-value platform demonstrations for stakeholders
Deploy and support developed products in stand-alone military environments (clearance and some travel required)
Educate technical and non-technical teams on the applicability, benefits, and use of an IDP for their individual areas of responsibility
Collaborate closely with cloud, security, and developer teams
Collaborate closely with military operators and program management teams
Continuously learn about new technologies and best practices
Identify and improve value streams
Self-starter
Train and mentor junior platform engineers
Help establish SDL platform engineering best practices
Review the work of peers.

Required Qualifications:
BS degree or equivalent experience in computer science, MIS, engineering, or related field
10+ years engineering experience in the technology sector. (SRE, System Engineer, System Admin, Software Engineer)
3+ years Linux Administration
Production experience deploying and managing Kubernetes (K8s) clusters.
Experience with public, private, and bare metal clouds (AWS, vSphere, Canonical MaaS)
Infrastructure automation experience (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef)
Familiarity with software system design, development, deployment, and testing.
Familiarity with Day 0, Day 1, and Day 2 operations
Experience with software development lifecycle (revision control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
Ability to serve as a technical adviser to program managers, customers, and stakeholders on software applications and solution
Demonstrated problem-solving skills to respond resourcefully to new demands or challenges
Must be able to work effectively both independently and with a team
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Must be able to travel
Preferred Qualifications:
CKA and CKS certifications.
Coding skills in one major software language (C, Java, C#, Go, …).
Experience managing CI/CD tools and pipelines.
Experience with multiple K8s CNI plugins.
Experience with multiple K8s CSI plugins.
Experience deploying and maintaining GitOps.
Experience deploying and integrating identity management solutions.
Experience deploying and integrating observability and monitoring solutions.
Experience with eBPF observability and monitoring tools.
Experience with K8s real-time security monitoring.
Experience with Security Incident Event Management solutions.
Experience deploying into air-gapped environments
Comfortable with using the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, etc.)
Comfortable using version control tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
Experience with Agile development.
Familiarity with DoD DevSecOps principles.
Experience with DoD mission operations networks.
Experience complying with FedRAMP or other Gov. security standards.
