Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant

Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant in the Energy/Natural Resources industry, located in The Woodlands, Texas. This role will involve data modeling, technical troubleshooting, and implementing effective business analytics practices. Responsibilities Develop and enforce standards and procedures for the storage and retrieval of institutional data. Work collaboratively with institutional staff and reporting officials to resolve data discrepancies and/or to clarify reporting procedures. Assist in the implementation of effective business analytics practices that drive improved decision making, efficiency, and performance. Communicate with nontechnical business users to ascertain specific business requirements for reports and business intelligence solutions. Perform technical troubleshooting, code debugging, and problem solving for custom-built data warehousing solutions. Maintain an accurate and comprehensive inventory of data, data systems, and data storage. Identify, communicate, and resolve data quality and data reconciliation issues. Participate in and support all planning and problem resolution. Perform independent audits and reviews and validate databases to ensure data integrity. Data Modeling in Business Intelligence (BI), Data Warehousing, and IoT solutions. Promote optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information. Requirements Proficiency in Atlassian Jira is expected, as it forms a crucial part of our project management framework. Profound experience with BusinessObjects Technologies is required, as this is our primary tool for enterprise reporting. Must have a solid understanding of Cognos Business Intelligence which is used for our data warehousing and reporting needs. Aptitude for Data Visualization is necessary, as presenting data in a comprehensible manner is a significant part of this role. Knowledge of Maps API is beneficial for geographical data representation and analysis. Demonstrable experience in AB Testing is needed, as it is a key aspect of our continuous improvement process. Capability to perform Ad Hoc Reporting is required, as spontaneous report generation is a common task. Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology is essential, as it is the foundation of our project management approach. Strong analytical skills are necessary to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights. Extensive knowledge in Business Intelligence (BI) is paramount, as the role is primarily centered around BI strategies and solutions.
