That’s where you come in.We are hiring immediately for a Programmer Analyst III/IV to join the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth in Houston, TX 77030. In this position, you will work in the Analytics Research Center (BIG-Arc) under the direction of Dr. Elmer Bernstam. The ideal candidate will assist with leveraging biomedical data for clinical/translational research and clinical care by obtaining, integrating, analyzing, and making sense of data. This work is done through existing tools (e.g. NLP Tools, Machine Learning, REDCap, etc.) and the creation of new tools (e.g., eMPI, BIGTXT, etc.), as well as services (e.g., enhanced subject recruitment, HIPAA and security, IRB, data access and analysis), programming and application development (e.g., multiple project-specific applications for researchers), and research (e.g., CTSA-funded projects, data visualization, record-linking, scanned documents, precision oncology, and decision support, etc.). Position Summary:Provides the technical skills involving writing and documenting moderate to complex applications and programs.Position Key Accountabilities:

Designs and documents the program or series of programs which will best meet the needs of the client/user.

Ensures that the specification provided are thorough and detailed in order to avoid problems in coding development.

Adheres to the departmental standards for program specifications and ensures the documents are approved by the client and supervisor.

Consults resources materials as needed.

Codes moderate to complex programs and ensure that the programs conform to departmental standards.

Thoroughly and adequately tests all functions of the program prior to submitting it to the lead analyst or manager for quality review and verification.

Prepares the proper paperwork and follows correct procedures for implementing new programs or changes in production.

Responsible for the maintenance of completed/existing programs and systems.

Certification/Skills:Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Three and a half years of programming experience.
