At Houston Methodist, the Peace Officer Coordinator position is responsible for assigned activities of the Public Safety/Security department. This position's duties include coordinating and scheduling all Peace Officers working at Houston Methodist in their extra employment (off-duty hours) and serve as a liaison with the administration of the associated agencies. The Peace Officer Coordinator position is responsible for making recommendations to department management regarding the utilization and deployment of off-duty officers at Houston Methodist. This position makes routine decisions which include the selection of new hires (officers), assesses officers, creates new policies and procedures as needed, and has authority as senior Peace Officer on site to manage situations requiring intervention of licensed Peace Officers. The Peace Officer Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating Peace Officers at Houston Methodist.PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Actively responds to requests for personal security coverage, assistance with directions, information and guidance.
Conducts recruiting activities and pre-employment screenings of prospective Peace Officers for the Houston Methodist employment by interviewing, in coordination with Department Management and associated agencies who are applying for off-duty positions at Houston Methodist.
Role models excellent, clear and professional communication skills to achieve mutual understanding and problem resolution, while providing the highest quality service during every patient, visitor and staff encounter.
Interfacing with Peace Officers to provide feedback to management on team member's performance and conduct. Collaborates/supports management for improvement of employee satisfaction, implementation of protocols and objectives with team members to result in optimization of staff performance, teamwork, patient safety, and customer service.
Coordinates training, offers direction and develops skills of team members and continually assists with improving skills, performance and outcomes, orientation of all new law enforcement personnel.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responds to all radio dispatches, answers calls and complaints and assesses and makes recommendations as needed for all emergent situations. Maintains high customer satisfaction while providing the highest level of safety and security to patients, visitors, staff and assets.
Ensures that all officers are in compliance regarding ¿extra employment¿. Works with department management to ensure a roster of qualified personnel to adequately meet staffing needs. Responds to incremental, emergent, staffing inquiries timely.
Secures premises and individuals by patrolling facilities, monitoring surveillance cameras, monitoring access points and permitting entry as needed. Performs duties in a designated fixed-post assignment, as needed.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In coordination with management, provides additional officers when necessary through established department protocols. Monitors self and employee compliance with competencies, credentials, in-services, policies and procedures and assists management with associated actions upon non-compliance.
Accurately communicates and/or generates and completes reports by recording occurrences, information, observations, surveillance activities and conducting witness interviews.
Maintains a safe environment, following all policies and procedures for safety, hazardous material, emergency preparedness and HIPAA. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Participates in training, drills and actual events according to policies and procedures.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prevents loss and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures.
Prioritizes daily tasks and provides leadership to team members on effective and efficient utilization of time, minimizing incidental overtime to achieve financial target and staffing needs.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports Houston Methodist and department goals and vision. Identifies and implements innovative solutions for practice or workflow changes to improve department operations.
Implements actions that promote a workplace safety culture and proactively prevents workplace violence.

Employed by a licensed law enforcement agency
Three years law enforcement experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED
PO - Peace Officer - State Licensure Current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement license (T.C.L.O.S.E.)

Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office software
