In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee purchasing, material strategy, and S&OP activities for our Pressure Relief Valves manufacturing operations. Your primary goal will be to ensure material availability to meet customer needs while optimizing inventory levels. Develop, through collaboration with strategic procurement group, purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies.
Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers to ensure quality and on-time delivery, by keeping negotiated lead times up to date in the business system.
Monitor supplier performance and take corrective action as necessary to maintain consistent supply chain operations.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors on more obscure material (D-Parts) to secure favorable agreements.
Purchasing Management
Lead the standard process and execution of routine purchasing practices by buyers.
Lead purchasing to maximize material availability and supplier on-time delivery, minimize purchase price variance, support inventory goals, minimize AP issues and avoid stockouts.
Lead the approval process for air freight, expedite fees, cancellation fees, and other material supply-related expenses, ensuring efficient and effective oversight
Collaborate with production and project teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, meeting customer needs and project goals
Handle the MRP data required for annual standard cost roll including purchasing information records, supplier scale price tables, and make/buy decision changes
Material Strategy
Lead the material strategy for the facility regarding inventory levels required due to demand and production plans, logistics interruptions, Supplier performance, etc.
Collaborate with Finance to set and track annual inventory performance metrics, driving success in total inventory value, inventory turns, cost reduction goals, and the efficient management and disposition of excess and obsolete inventory.
Develop and implement stocking strategies to improve material availability (kanban, ROP, etc.).
Tactically resolve material shortages, disruptions, and bottlenecks to maintain smooth production operations.
Effectively assess internal machining capacity and capability to best leverage Emerson assets and resources within the facility for material supply
Collaborate with Engineering to drive improvement on new part creation processes, SKU rationalization, and specification documentation.
Develop collaborative engagement with other Emerson world facilities which are both customers and suppliers of the Stafford facility.

For This Role, You Will Need:
A Bachelor of Science degree in technical, engineering or business.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on purchasing, forecasting, and planning. (5+ years in a lean environment preferred)
Experience in leading people through change & cultivating with knowledge how high-performing material systems operate.
Exceptional skills in quantitative analysis, problem-solving, organization, and communication, with a talent for fostering strong relationships.
Experience in resolving material flow issues within a matrix functional organization.
Ability to spot opportunities, inspire continuous improvement, and make confident, impactful decisions.
Experience in continuous improvement / process improvement.
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma).
Knowledge & experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Experience working in continuous/process improvement.
