Don Strange of Texas is now accepting applications for a Baker.
Our bakers are required to prepare large quantities of baked goods to be served at weddings, conventions, meetings, and other large events or gatherings. Our bakery prepares a variety of breads, cakes, pastries, pies, cookies, and other baked goods of different styles in a timely manner for our large-scale off-site events.
General Responsibilities:
Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment
Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
Keeping records related to inventory, deliveries, production levels and deadlines
Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring equipment is sanitized and prepared for following shift
Adhere to recipes and ensure smooth and safe operations
Help maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen
Ensure complete compliance with all food, safety and physical standards and policies
Requirements:
Proven experience in the culinary field.
Experience in high-volume, quality-oriented catering, restaurant or banquets experience is preferred
Excellent volume cooking and presentation skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and good listening skills
Thoroughness, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills
Ability to work and communicate with a variety of people of different skill levels and varied backgrounds
Ability to effectively handle many tasks at once in a fast-paced work environment
Good decision-making and ability to proactively make changes as needed
Adhere to required cleaning and sanitation standards
Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
Food Handler Certification, required
Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
