Description:• Department: Technical Support Operations Job Category: Information Technology Job Title: Lab Technician• Duties: Cabling and configuring network and console link to firewalls, switches and routers. • Installing, configuring and maintaining ethernet switches, PDU’s and other rack infrastructure in lab. • Calculating power and cooling requirements for new equipment installations. • Assisting users with building and provisioning virtual machine guests in Windows, Linux, etc. Providing end-user support for infrastructure troubleshooting, diagnosis and resolution. • Monitoring the laboratory network and systems to ensure reliable operation.Updating and patching network and infrastructure devices. • Implementing tools to prevent, detect; and eliminate virus, malware and active hacking threats. • Maintaining licenses (MSDN, VMware, etc) and their distribution.Maintaining lab firewall policies to allow network testing without compromising security. Purchasing and maintaining inventory, as well as, asset management records.• Skills: Qualified candidates will possess the majority of these skills. • Knowledge of common network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, Dynamic routing protocols, SSH/SCP/SFTP, DNS, NFS, LDAP, CIFS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, etc. • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 networking. • Experience managing CENTOS, Debian, or other Linux distributions. • Windows, MacOS, and VMware admin experience

Education: • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent. • 3+ Years experience working in a technical/troubleshooting/support role.
