Gesch Contracting, Inc. is looking for a Safety Technician
The Pipeline New Construction Safety Technician plays a key role in ensuring safety and regulatory compliance during the construction and installation of new pipeline systems. This position supports field operations by identifying hazards, enforcing safety protocols, and promoting a safe work environment across all phases of pipeline construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety oversight: Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, PHMSA, and company-specific safety regulations and standards.
Site inspections: Conduct daily safety inspections of construction sites, equipment, and work practices to identify and mitigate hazards.
Permit and documentation management: Verify that all required permits (e.g. hot work, excavation, confined space) are in place and up to date.
Incident response: Assist in the investigation and reporting of incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Support root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
Training and communication: Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel are aware of the job site’s safety expectations and emergency procedures.
Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, contractors, and utility companies to ensure safety is integrated into all construction phases.
Equipment and PPE monitoring: Ensure proper use and condition of personal protective equipment (PPE) and that all construction equipment is inspected and operated safely.
Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed logs of safety inspections, audits, training, and incident reports.
