We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support a federal construction project at Fort Hood. This is a 1099 contract position with the assignment expected to run through December 2025 and possibly into January 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Enforce safety compliance in accordance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards
Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain accurate safety records
Lead daily safety briefings and toolbox talks
Ensure implementation of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
Coordinate with government Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs)
Minimum Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship (required for Fort Hood access)
Must meet SSHO qualifications per EM 385-1-1
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (current)
EM 385-1-1 certification
First Aid/CPR certification (current)
Minimum 5 years of verifiable safety experience on construction projects
Excellent communication and recordkeeping skills
Ability to pass a background check for base access
Will need to be federally vetted
Will need to sign NDA
Additional Notes:
This is a 1099 role; candidates must provide their own liability/workers’ compensation coverage

Additional required certificates (such as AT Level I, OPSEC, and other government-mandated training) can be completed after starting work—these are online and will be paid time during the workday
Must be dependable, professional, and capable of operating independently on a federal job site
