Job Title: Manual Machinist (Days)Job DescriptionService and repair company for pumps and rotating equipment is hiring for a manual machinist. You will work in the shop to recondition pumps from the field based on blueprints and drawings. You will handle split case pumps, overhung pumps, horizontal pumps, multistage pumps, and more. Responsibilities include line boring on pumps, drilling, facing, working on square plates, base plates, and internal pump parts such as shafts, sleeves, rings, impellers, heads, and casings. Part dimensions range from 4" up to 7'. Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and bronze. You will also make serrated finishes for flanges, dial pins, cut diameters on IDs, mount faces for bearing housings, and create key ways on shafts.Hard Skills

5+ years Manual Machinist experience

Lathe machining

Vertical mill (Bridgeport machine)

Line boring on pumps

Blueprint reading

Experience with pump parts

Job TypeThis is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Houston, Texas.Work EnvironmentMedium-sized shop with numerous parts and pumps due to high business volume. The shop is air-conditioned but tight on space, with plans to move to a bigger facility in 2024 or 2025. The day shift includes 7 manual machinists, 10 pump mechanics, and 1 welder, while the night shift consists of 3 manual machinists, 8 pump mechanics, and 1 welder. The shop has a positive work environment with many employees having long tenures or coming from other shops with no intention of leaving due to the great work atmosphere. The required attire includes steel-toe boots, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses. Day shift runs from Mon-Fri 6:00a-4:30p and Sat 6:00a-2:30p, with 2 paid breaks and an unpaid lunch. Expect to work 50 to 60 hours every week, with occasional Sundays at double time. Night shift runs from Mon-Fri 3:30p-2:30a and Sat 2:00p-10:00p, with a 10% differential.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $44.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
