Description We are offering an opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our team in the Energy/Natural Resources industry located in Houston, Texas. As a Data Engineer, you will take on the role of managing, optimizing, overseeing, and monitoring data retrieval, storage, and distribution throughout the organization. This opportunity offers a contract to hire employment structure. Responsibilities: Develop, construct, test, and maintain large scale processing systems and be responsible for overall data architecture, modeling, and ETL process design. Collaborate with data scientists and architects to implement complex big data projects, handling both data streaming and batch processing. Translate functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications, and subsequently into data pipelines. Set processes for data mining, data modeling, and data production. Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, ensuring they support business requirements. Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and maintaining the data pipeline. Troubleshoot any issues that may arise and develop and upgrade systems as required. Comply with data privacy regulations and best practices. Develop reports, dashboards, and tools for business users. Utilize skills in Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cloud Technologies, Database, EO/IR systems, Algorithm Implementation, Analytics, Apache Hadoop, API Development, and AWS Technologies. Requirements Proficiency in Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cloud Technologies, and Database management is required. Knowledge and experience in EO/IR systems is essential. Candidate must have demonstrable experience in Algorithm Implementation. Strong analytical skills and experience in Analytics is necessary. Familiarity with Apache Hadoop is mandatory. Proven experience in API Development is preferred. Proficiency in AWS Technologies is required. Must have a deep understanding of data engineering principles and methodologies. Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to collaborative efforts is necessary. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex data engineering tasks. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Relevant industry experience in Energy/Natural Resources is preferred. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in data engineering or related fields would be advantageous.
