Sr. Claims SpecialistTopgolf has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual for the role of Sr. Claims Specialist – Workers’ Compensation & Auto.Role:The Sr. Claims Specialist is the primary subject matter expert for Workers’ Compensation and Auto within the Risk Management department. This driven and highly organized individual will report to the Sr. Director of Risk Management and support a variety of occupational-injury and vehicle claim responsibilities and initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a team player and a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, growing, dynamic environment. This person must be proficient in workers’ compensation, and have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with a proven ability to multi- task and meet tight deadlines.Responsibilities:
Review incoming incidents from RMIS system, triage as appropriate and approve indemnity escalations with the insurance carrier/third-party administrator
Resolve venue requests relating to the claim reporting process
Coordinate leave of absence processing with Benefits as required
Assess reported occupational injuries for potential required OSHA reporting and assist Director of EH&S with investigative efforts
Process risk related invoices for payment while adhering to company guidelines; approve invoices within designated authority
Create and maintain filing systems for workers’ compensation and auto related paperwork
Coordinate the timely response to wage statement requests with payroll for work-related injury claims
Follow up with venue managers for more information on playmaker and auto incidents to identify root cause and litigation exposure
Ensure new venues as well as existing locations have and are using up to date Medical Provider Panels
Coordinate the proper submission of medical bills to the carrier for Workers’ Compensation claims
Oversee return-to-work efforts between the injured playmaker, insurance adjuster, and venue manager
Approve bona fide job offers as applicable
Review and approve/deny requests for claim denials for WC
Review and approve surveillance requests
Oversee monopolistic state WC programs
Complete WC legal discovery as required
Review and make recommendations on reserve and settlement evaluations, approving those within assigned authority
Fulfill adjuster requests for information such as lease agreements, vendor contracts, and venue level contact information
Create standard operating procedures as appropriate for use by operations in relation to insurance claims
Conduct training for operations management on claims-related topics
Ensure compliance with state-specific guidelines relating to required notices, posting, and reporting in relation to occupational injuries
Additional tasks and project assistance as requested by supervisor
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to organize, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure and subject to changing priorities; proven experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and using judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
Professional discretion required when dealing with sensitive or confidential issues.
Calm and professional demeanor even when dealing with potentially upset playmakers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong inter-personal service skills and professionalism, proven track record of putting the playmaker first and ensuring satisfaction.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals at all levels in a fast-paced growing organization.
Experience in roles requiring the ability to work independently, anticipate next steps, take initiative, exercise discretion and sound judgment and work collaboratively as a member of the team.
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proficiency in using risk management information systems preferred.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
Some travel and off-hours/weekend support may be required for this position.
Experience and Education
5-7 years experience working as a specialist in risk management or human resources supporting casualty claims programs
Workers’ Compensation experience required
Candidates with restaurant, hospitality, or retail experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
Risk certifications such as the Associate in Claims (AIC) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred
State of Texas property and casualty adjuster’s license a plus
