WSP is currently seeking a National Stormwater and Drainage Practice Leader to be part of our US Water National Business Line (NBL) team and play a key role in implementing WSP’s US growth strategy and delivering innovative solutions to our clients’ most complex challenges. The ideal candidate will be located in Florida, Texas, or California, but can be based in any US city where WSP has an office.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of National Stormwater and Drainage Practice Lead, you will be counted on to:
Support the implementation of a national growth strategy for the stormwater and drainage market, which includes but is not limited to stormwater management, watershed management, drainage design and green infrastructure A/E markets. Activities include identifying and engaging with key clients, building alliances with partners and peers, amplifying the company’s brand in the marketplace, participating in strategic sales, recruiting market-best talent, and connecting the nationwide network of practice experts.
Identifying opportunities in your market area, building the national pipeline for the stormwater and drainage market, and supporting strategically important project pursuits in a lead and/or primary support role.
Collaborate significantly with regional leaders to implement regional strategies and initiatives, with an emphasis on client planning, industry knowledge-sharing, and support for market development and sales. Focus on delivery of water resources related planning, modeling, and design projects.
Serve as technical advisor or in an overall quality assurance role.

Collaborates with peer National Business Line Executives, including Transportation, Property & Buildings, Advisory, Earth & Environment, Energy, Climate Resiliency & Sustainability as well as the Strategic Growth Team and Regional Development Directors.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Registered Professional Engineer with the ability to acquire Professional Engineer licenses by comity in additional states as market strategies require.Minimum of 15+ years in integrated water resources planning, water resources engineering, or related field. Understanding of national trends within stormwater and drainage practice areas.Visible industry leader nationally in stormwater and drainage modeling and design engineering with existing client and partner relationships and ability to develop new ones.Must have strong oral and written communication skills, a proven track record of successful ability to lead the development of project pursuits from pre-positioning, to written technical proposals and interviews. Must be able to convey complex technical engineering concepts in a clear, concise manner to non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement national and regional strategies that result in support for investment and lead to organic growth.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to build pipeline of project opportunities, lead client engagement planning, and lead pursuit teams to successful sales.Driven, yet empathetic leader, with experience working with diverse and independent teams dispersed across the US.Ability to successfully navigate multi-dimensional organizations to bring new resources, innovations, ideas and best practices to clients.Demonstrated experience in leadership, personal accountability, and persistence. Strong business acumen with an aptitude for improving processes and experience with change management.Commitment to internal and external client service, and broad knowledge of and experience with technical and project delivery.Strong budget management / enterprise business aptitude.Preferred QualificationsExperience in the delivery of large design-build and/or large program management A/E contracts as a project manager or discipline lead.Experience with federal agency clients, primarily the US Army Corps of Engineers.Drive For Results, Priority Setting, Planning, Delegation, Directing Others, Conflict Management, Building Effective Teams.Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to stormwater management and drainage.Experience with risk-based planning and risk informed decision making.
