Project Manager / Estimator – Wet Utilities
We’re seeking a skilled Project Manager/Estimator to lead the estimating, planning, and execution of wet utility construction projects. This key role is responsible for preparing accurate bids, coordinating schedules and materials, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and on time. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where communication and planning are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Preconstruction
Review bid invitations and prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for wet utility scopes.
Analyze plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports; identify missing or conflicting information and submit RFIs as needed.
Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and compliance.
Estimate project durations and equipment needs based on scope and site conditions (e.g., ROW work, proximity to structures, active facilities, etc.).
Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals by deadlines.
Project Setup & Procurement
Gather product data and prepare submittals.
Create procurement and materials delivery schedules in collaboration with field teams.
Obtain necessary permits and ensure they're in place before work begins.
Prepare startup checklists and assist in mobilization planning.
Organize and maintain electronic job files, including vendor quotes and permit documentation.
Project Management & Coordination
Work closely with the Field Superintendent to ensure timely delivery of plans, permits, submittals, materials, equipment, and manpower.
Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors, including scheduling inspections and equipment like cranes when necessary.
Review and process vendor/subcontractor invoices; verify pricing and quantities.
Track and manage job costs, change orders, and pay applications using AIA documentation.
Submit RFIs, CORs, and manage design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Field Support & Closeout
Provide field teams with stamped plans and any revisions, RFI responses, or changes.
Request CAD files and survey control points; prepare GPS layout systems or schedule surveyors when required.
Ensure field teams are updated on all scope changes and impacts.
Prepare as-builts, warranty letters, maintenance bonds, and other closeout documentation.
