Position Overview:
Cleanliness is essential to the Club, and Austin Country Club seeks a Housekeeping Manager who shares this passion. The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for leading a team of individuals in the daily and long-term cleanliness of the facilities, including office areas, dining rooms, event space, rest rooms, golf and tennis facilities, and the swimming pool area. The Housekeeping Manager will meet the Club’s housekeeping standards and objectives, hire, train, and counsel staff, assign tasks, oversee the team’s activities, inspect areas, and manage the cleaning supply inventories. This is a participative leadership position where the manager provides hands-on training and assists with duties as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Hiring, leading, training, overseeing, and coaching the housekeeping team. A team who predominately speaks Spanish.
Establishing the daily cleaning activities and schedule for the team and leading and assisting them in fulfilling their daily tasks.
Assessing and establishing long-term housekeeping needs, such as cleaning drapes, polishing, and rug shampooing, and creating, implementing, and monitoring the long-term cleaning schedule.
Ensure all facilities and outdoor areas, such as patios and walkways, are exceptionally clean and pristine, and report any areas needing repair to the maintenance department.
Investigating housekeeping criticisms and complaints and taking appropriate action.
Assisting in establishing the housekeeping budget and managing and monitoring expenses to maintain the department’s budget.
Creating a culture that utilizes in-house resources, minimizing the need for vendor services.
Assessing and selecting, as needed, vendors for services that cannot or should not be performed in-house and overseeing vendor performance as expected.
Creating a safe work environment by implementing safety procedures and practices, training and educating staff, and communicating the importance of safety.
Qualifications:
Experience managing a housekeeping team, preferably at a luxury property such as a club, hotel, resort, restaurant, or related hospitality venue.
Exceptional leadership skills in creating a team environment through hands-on leadership, training, and developing team members.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with cleaning chemicals, solutions, and equipment.
Knowledge of standard business management practices including, but to limited to, creating and monitoring budgets, service agreements, and contractor performance.
Knowledge and practice of health and safety programs and practices.
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Ability to speak Spanish and lead a team whose primary language is Spanish.
Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
