Work for a funny man in his 60s (multiple sclerosis)

Texas, Austin, 73301 Austin USA
Aplica ya

Hey everyone! If you're super strong (able to lift 200 pounds), want a long-term job, got vaccinated against covid, have your own car, and are between 5'7 and 6'2, then please keep reading!

My name is Bob and I’m looking for part-time caregivers. (Read this entire ad if interested!) I’ve been in a wheelchair for the last 9 or so years due to multiple sclerosis. I’m 67 years old and have lived in Austin since the 80s. I love discussing pop culture, current events, politics, and life in general. Before my big life change, I was very active with yoga and worked in marketing. I’m originally from the Chicago area and got my degree in Wisconsin. I’m cheerful, responsive, and love having engaging conversations with my friends and caregivers alike. I’m also a bit of a jokester!

As you can imagine, caregivers are a crucial part of my life. I’m posting this ad to find one or two additional people (likely men, or strong women at least 5'7) that can help me with my daily routine on a part-time, ongoing basis. I appreciate building long-term professional relationships with people I naturally get along with. Please keep reading if you want a meaningful and interesting position! Direct experience as a caregiver isn’t a priority as I can train you. I have two shifts every day of the week that are divided between multiple caregivers.

Shifts:

Shift 1: 8 am-2:30 pm

Shift 2: begins at 6 pm and goes for 1-2 hours depending on your skill level

Pay:

The job pays $25/hr weekly via PayPal.

Shift 1 involves assisting me with my daily routine: waking up, bathing, dressing, going to the bathroom, eating (light food prep), light tidying up around the house, and going on a walk for 60-90 minutes outside.

Shift 2 involves my bedtime routine. Bathing, food prep, bathroom, and lowering me onto my bed are a few of the tasks.

I have a nice, clean home that is spacious enough for you to make yourself comfortable during breaks. It’s about 10 minutes South of downtown Austin.

To be transparent and to save your time, I’m looking for someone who meets these requirements:

-You must be taller than 5’7. This is a literal requirement because of the manual lifting. You cannot make up for being shorter than 5'7 with strength or experience. Please save our time and refrain from emailing us if you are shorter than 5'7.

-You have your own vehicle that can remain on-site during your shift (in case of a rare emergency)

-You are vaccinated against Covid

-You would never show up to a shift with alcohol or drugs in your system, this includes drinking or smoking earlier in the day

-You have a professional/conservative outward appearance with minimal visible tattoos

-You don’t wear strong scents

-You arrive on time and stick to your word

-You are personable and friendly while also being professional. You’re a good conversationalist but self-aware enough not to incessantly talk

-You’re looking for a long-term job

-You are healthy, enthusiastic, and probably in your 20s, 30s, or 40s

Please email me letting me know why you’re interested, that you meet all requirements, and with any questions you have. Once I hear from you, I’ll set up a phone call with my assistant, followed by an in-person interview, background check, and reference check. Please be ready to provide professional and personal references if we both decide to move forward.

You can also fill out this short application that only takes about 5 minutes: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17K6Xr8eKjDJzY6kHWlkfrYI5QF6cIl-94ArR7Rve94/edit

I am hiring immediately, so for the right person, training can start very soon.

I genuinely look forward to hearing from you! Thank you for your time and interest!

-Bob
