We are seeking a Pastry Cook in Austin, Texas to support our amazing client’s culinary operations. It just so happens to be the world’s the largest social media company in the world.

The ideal Pastry Cook will be passionate about high quality ingredients and have an appreciation for international cuisine. The Pastry Cook will have the opportunity to bake a variety of desserts every day. Our team cooks food that represent a different a region of the world every day. Our teams prepare food from scratch daily, utilizing the best ingredients available. At GM Culinary, you will be able to showcase your baking talents while learning new skills and experimenting with new flavors; no two days are the same.

Essential Job Functions

 Bakes a variety of desserts every day

 Demonstrates knowledge in scratch baking techniques including, but not limited to, various bread techniques, laminated doughs, tarts, cookies, quick breads, cakes, vegan or diet restricted items, plated desserts, and custards

 Sets up and maintains service station according to client guidelines

 Ensures all food items are consistently prepared by adhering to all recipe standards

 Follows safety and sanitation procedures in accordance to all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and the HACCP Coordinator

 Accountable for compliance with all local, state, federal laws and regulations including those relating to food

 Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion, standing, walking, bending/twisting and balance

 Stands for a minimum of 8 hours a day

 Detect workplace hazards, navigate work areas, follow written directions, and safely operate equipment

 Lift, push and/or move up to 50lbs

 Safely work around hot surfaces, sharp objects and potentially wet and/or slippery floors

 Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility and an essential function of each employee at GM Culinary

Minimum Qualifications

 Attention to detail

 Working knowledge of bakery production equipment

 Self-starter and have ability to prioritize and handle various tasks simultaneously

 Knowledge of Baker’s percentages, volume, weight units of measurements, and US vs Metric

 Experience with flavors and profiles of different savory and sweet desserts

 Ability to work with all food allergens

 Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected situations

 Obtain and maintain an active Food Handlers Card for the duration of employment

 Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pastry Cook

 3 plus years experience in a Pastry Cook role preferred
