Part of the Genetic Sciences Division, the Sales Director, Product Specialists, will create the strategic direction for the North American Genetic Testing Solutions (GTS) Commercial team and lead Sales Managers to drive business in the genetic testing space (quantitative PCR, digital PCR, microarray and Sanger Sequencing/Fragment Analysis) throughout the clinical market.Impact

Responsible for $400+M of revenue in 2024 across North America

Leads a team of district managers to implement strategies to achieve the operating plan

Leads a commercial organization of technical sales specialists

What will you do?

Develop and implement successful sales strategies to capture molecular testing business

Lead a team sales managers, aligning on sales performance and revenue targets and using metrics to monitor performance

Build and develop high performing teams by leading, mentoring, coaching, and driving engagement

Attract and empower the right talent, helping to build a reputation as the best place to work for applicants who want to further develop their commercial career in the biotech industry

Ensure the best teamwork and cross-functional practices to support customers

Engage resources from across Thermo Fisher such as marketing, product management, manufacturing, customer care, service and support to drive growth in clinical markets

Develop and maintain knowledge of markets, genetic testing products, competitors, economic and regulatory landscape required to effectively compete in North America laboratories

Ensure that comprehensive product and application knowledge is used to conduct effective consultative and strategic selling presentations

Implement and monitor performance management of sales team, compliance with financial & regulatory management practices

Engage in customer relationships to foster strong partnership and address and resolve customer issues

Champion the use of Salesforce.com and use data driven analytics to drive commercial execution and performance

How will you get there?

Bachelor’s Degree: Biology, Molecular Biology, biochemistry, or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. Master’s degree preferred

Extensive knowledge of and Clinical Markets (PCR/qPCR, dPCR, Capillary Electrophoresis and Microarray) is highly desirable

9+ years of effective sales representative experience with experience managing accounts, sales and client relationships with a rack record of consistent sales achievement

Experience leading and motivating sales teams as a manager, coach, mentor and thought leader. Ability to articulate a vision and inspire others to follow

Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to influence across diverse collaborator groups, and operate at all levels in the business

Capability to create, read and understand complex data to manage financial targets and ensure metrics are being tracked and reported appropriately

Strong personal character coupled with a driven focus on the customer, a broad business sense and insightfulness, plus vital proficiencies essential to navigating complex and dynamic market conditions

Must have the presence, visibility and personality to quickly establish credibility with customers, channel partners, industry Key Opinion Leaders and related authorities

Must be highly collaborative and engaging, a strong relationship builder and comfortable in highly matrixed, complex, and changing environments

Must be self-confident and possess the right balance of both strategic and tactical thinking
