Job Description:
Assist Maintenance Manager in all duties to maintain and/or make repairs or renovations required for commercial properties. The Maintenance Assistant works under the immediate supervision of the Maintenance Manager.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect and clean exterior of properties, picking up trash, sweeping common areas, power washing, landscaping – including blowing, trimming, cutting bush and weeds.
Cleaning common interiors to include sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash, maintaining trash bin areas. Replace light bulbs when needed.
Assist manager in renovations and repairs including plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, maintaining cistern and septic systems, hardware repair. Keep all mechanical areas in neat and orderly condition. Loading and discarding of heavy items to dump when needed.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate and understand operation of tools and equipment, read safety manuals and warnings, maintain tools and equipment. Maintain and organize maintenance inventory.
Communicate all information related to the properties to the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
Ability to follow directions thoroughly.
Ability to speak, read and write and understand the primary language in the workplace (English).
Ability to maintain a clean and functional work space.
Be available during emergencies.
Physical Requirements
Work standing and/or walking frequently for up to entire shift.
Lifting 30 lbs. consistently, up to 75 lbs. or more occasionally.
Able to reach, lift, carry, push, pull, grasp, manipulate or otherwise move objects.
Frequent bending, squatting, twisting and turning.
Education Level: High School Diploma or equivalent
Job experience: Minimum 2 years
Driver’s License: Required. Clean driving record and police record required.
Transportation to and from work: Required
Hours per week: 40 hours. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends as needed, be available for emergencies.
Compensation: $12.75 per Hour
