Marketing Canvasser:
Job Description:
The role of a Marketing Canvasser is to promote the Big Orange Gutters brand through in-person engagement and interaction in neighborhoods within our local market. Typically, Canvassers will be scheduled in neighborhoods where our installers are present and working so that our company will already have gained some exposure to the residents of the area. If there are no scheduled projects nearby on any given day, the Canvasser can go to neighborhoods/zip codes agreed upon with their manager, the day prior. Required availability for this position is at least one day each week and up to five days per week depending on Canvasser availability. A Canvasser has the option to work full days on any day of the week, or several hours on any given day. Availability of each Canvasser must be given to their manager at least two weeks prior to the first day of each month so that schedules can be planned accordingly and routes planned ahead of time.
Job Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Communicate with the manager by text and photos of street sign and/or house numbers upon beginning and end of
each canvassing route.
- Engage with people that are outside of their homes and by knocking on doors in order to provide a brief explanation of
our services.
- Attain a moderate understanding of the work that we do so that you can determine if someone is a good candidate for
our services based on what is visible from the exterior of the home.
-Enter lead info into our mobile page from your phone while canvassing.
- If homeowners not present, place door hanger with company information on door handle or in mailbox.
- Reach out to a Salesperson or Project Manager by text/call while canvassing if someone is willing to set a sales
appointment on the spot.
- Communicate with homeowners in professional and courteous manner.
If desired by the Canvasser, the option to learn sales is available upon gaining familiarity with our services and company so that sales can be made on the spot, instead of having to book future appointments.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation to and from work on scheduled days
Pay Structure:
Pay for Marketing Canvassers will be at a per-lead basis. Each "set-lead" will pay at a rate of $25/each. A set-lead is defined as a homeowner's information that is entered into our system by the Canvasser and then is confirmed and set as a sales appointment at a future date. For example, if 20 leads (aka homeowner's name, number, address) are gathered while canvassing a neighborhood, but only 10 of these leads answer the phone and confirm they would like to schedule an estimate for work then the total pay for the 20 "raw-leads" is $250 since 10 of the 20 did not respond or answer when attempts were made to schedule. In addition to being paid $25 per set-lead, Canvassers will also be paid 5% commission of the total sale price of any project attained from leads they submitted.
A secondary pay option, in place of the above mentioned pay per-lead structure, is to be paid at an hourly rate of $15/hour. In the event that attaining leads on any given day is slower than usual, the Canvasser will have the option to be paid at a rate of $15/hour instead of being paid per lead. Time paid for will include the arrival time at the agreed upon neighborhood/zip and then departure time from the area. This method of pay is contingent upon the Canvasser following all job responsibilities as mentioned above and being present at the agreed upon location for the predetermined amount of time.
Event Marketer:
Job Description:
The role of an Event Marketer is to promote the Big Orange Gutters brand through in-person engagement and interaction at local marketing events. The types of events that we purchase booth space at are trade shows, home shows, farmers markets, flea markets, local BBQ festivals, art festivals, fairs, boat shows, and any other local event where there is potential for us to attain sales leads. Marketing events typically last 1-2 days and are usually 4-6 hours each day. The events will typically be located within Memphis city limits, however, there are some events that will be up to 30 minutes outside of the city. Event Marketers are required to stay the full length of the event, unless other arrangements have been made with their scheduling manager. Required availability for this position is at least one day each month and up to as often as the Marketer is available, if events are booked on those days. Availability of each Event Marketer must be given to their manager at least two weeks prior to the first day of each month so that events and schedules can be planned accordingly.
Job Responsibilities/Requirements:
- Arrive 30-60 minutes prior to an event start to set up a Big Orange Gutters banner and collapsible table which will hold
several samples of our products along with print materials and tablet.
- Engage with people that walk by our booth and give a brief explanation of our services.

- Reach out to a Salesperson or Project Manager by text/call while at event if someone is willing to set a sales
appointment on the spot.
- Communicate at the event in a professional and courteous manner.
- Once the event has concluded, tear down and pack up all materials used during the event.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation to and from each event
Pay Structure:
Pay for Event Marketers will be at a per-lead basis. Each "set-lead" will pay at a rate of $25/each. A set-lead is defined as a homeowner's information that is entered into our system by the Event Marketer and then is confirmed and set as a sales appointment at a future date. For example, if 20 leads (aka homeowner's name, number, address) are gathered at a marketing event and submitted but only 10 of these leads answer the phone and confirm they would like to schedule an estimate for work then the total pay for the 20 "raw-leads" is $250 since 10 of the 20 did not respond or answer when attempts were made to schedule. In addition to being paid $25 per set-lead, Event Marketers will also be paid 5% commission of the total sale price of any project attained from leads they submitted.
A secondary pay option, in place of the above mentioned pay per-lead structure, is to be paid at an hourly rate of $18/hour. In the case that a marketing event is slow and a lower than usual amount of leads are gathered, the Event Marketer will have the option to be paid at a rate of $18/hour instead of being paid per lead. Time paid for will include the arrival time when setup for the event begins to the end of the event and after all materials have been packed up and stored. This method of pay is contingent upon the Event Marketer following all job responsibilities as mentioned above and being present at the event for the agreed upon time.
