Job Description

What We Do: In Sales Operations at Payscale, our mission is to propel the business forward by helping our Sales teams to sell better, faster, and more efficiently. We bring the selling system to life through strategic planning, data & analysis, process formalization, systems, and tools.

What You Do: The Sales Operations Analyst is the team’s specialist for preparing and analyzing data around various aspects of the Sales organization to track anything from rep efficiency to discounting trends. You'll provide timely, data-informed insights that drive value-based decisions.

Day-in-the-Life: As a Sales OperationsAnalyst, a typical day may include the following…

  • Building a Salesforce report to examine close rates in a particular industry
  • Refreshing the weekly forecast and pipeline deck to track progress towards revenue goals
  • Developing new dashboards and visualizations to highlight opportunities and risks for the Sales teams
  • Rebuilding pacing charts based on historic results to map out goals for the quarter
  • Compiling metrics and charts for quarterly business reviews

First Year in Role:

  • Month 3: You will have developed a solid understanding of our existing metrics, reports, and dashboards, and will be able to keep them refreshed. You will have established relationships with key leaders and teams in the organization.
  • Month 6: You will be actively running and iterating on existing reports and dashboards and beginning to build tools to address known gaps. You will be conducting analysis and developing insights about the revenue organization.
  • Month 12: You will fully own executive reporting and business intelligence analysis regarding new sales. You will be proactively defining metrics in support of our strategic goals and closely working with Sales leaders and supporting teams to develop important insights through data.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of reporting or analytics experience, preferably within a revenue function
  • Experience with large datasets, data warehouses, and business intelligence and reporting tools

Skills:

  • Strong data query, analysis, and visualization skills
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and prioritize effectively under pressure
  • Comfortable in a fast paced dynamic structure with a strong desire to grow along with the company
  • Demonstrable ability to build effective partnerships with business owners and technical partners
  • Clear communicator with excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete, manageable components and effectively communicate solutions

Tools:

  • Advanced Excel
  • Salesforce Reports and Dashboards
  • SQL and/or Tableau would be a plus!

Meet Your Manager: This role reports to the Director of Sales Operations. After spending several years leading sales teams at other companies, she transitioned to Sales Ops to focus on improving processes and driving decisions based on data.
