Job Description

We are looking for a Finishing Process Engineer at our Mt. Juliet, TN facility. In this role, you will be focused on improving the performance of our operations to achieve production excellence. As part of our team, you will work multi-functionally within Supply Chain, Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality on projects. Ability to work multiple functions and influence others is key to the role. You will serve a key role in supporting day to day product and process operations on finishing assets, scale-up of new products, and in the improvement of existing products.

In your role as Process Engineer, delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success:

  • Support preventive maintenance plan on finishing assets
  • Work closely with unit scheduler and operations team to ensure efficient schedule sequence, relay performance to schedule interruptions, and make course corrections to minimize customer impact and improve production efficiencies
  • Lead slitting trials and SOP changes
  • Solve daily operational challenges; first point of contact for shift teams
  • Lead capital projects for the unit including project prioritization and cost estimation, capital request development, project execution and handling contractors, and start up
  • Lead process improvement teams identifying and calling out all areas of improvement
  • Research and identify root cause on customer complaints. Work with team to develop and implement corrective action plan and implementation.
  • Working across functional boundaries and collaborate with various business subject areas in a significant manner - laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing functions as needed to carry out assignments.
  • Serve as an authority in data analysis and statistical tools

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial engineering related preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years Operations Engineering or related experience.
  • Lean and six sigma manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Data analysis and using statistical tools.
  • Web handling experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to successfully build rapport with the operations, maintenance and commercial teams

Other:

  • Be flexible in work hours. Will be on-call for troubleshooting and support for 24/5 manufacturing operation
  • Flex work schedule as required to cover off shift and weekend production
  • Agent of change. Identify, initiate, execute, control, and audit.
  • Work with quantitative analysis and models for decision-making and problem solving.
  • Able to conduct research, prepare comprehensive reports and present sophisticated statistical information in a clear and succinct fashion.
  • Can demonstrate process troubleshooting ability.
  • Can evaluate multiple variables to arrive at the optimum solution.
  • Proficiency in objective setting, and providing appropriate situational leadership to execute these strategies.
  • Ability to take on increased responsibility, special initiatives, and leadership role.
