Service Writer - Parts Specialist

BIR Fleet Services is seeking a motivated Service Writer/Parts Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage parts inventory, support the maintenance department, and act as a liaison between drivers, vendors, and service teams. This role is essential in ensuring our fleet remains in top condition by efficiently coordinating repairs, parts orders, and maintenance scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

-Inventory Management

-Forecast parts needs and place orders to maintain optimal inventory levels.

-Receive, label, and properly store incoming parts.

-Monitor current parts inventory and oversee special orders as required.

-Manage core returns for recycling or exchange programs.

-Vendor & Service Coordination

-Collaborate with service managers to ensure all necessary parts are available for repair jobs.

-Communicate with vendors for purchasing, returns, and warranty claims.

-Scheduling & Maintenance Support

-Coordinate between operations and the maintenance department to schedule repairs and update progress.

-Maintain and update maintenance schedules and road repair spreadsheets.

On-Road Breakdown Support:

-Communicate with drivers regarding on-road breakdowns and schedule vendors for necessary repairs.

-Work Order Management

-Open and close work orders, ensuring accurate documentation of repairs and part usage.

Job Requirements:

-Technical Proficiency

-Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

-Fleet Maintenance Experience

-Familiarity with fleet maintenance procedures and tractor/ trailer parts management.

-Inventory Control

-Ability to manage and forecast parts inventory, ensuring adequate supply for repair operations.

-Communication Skills:

-Strong ability to communicate between departments, with drivers, and external vendors to ensure smooth repair operations.

Physical Requirements:

-Ability to lift and carry objects such as automobile or equipment parts weighing up to 50 lbs.

-Must have the ability to operate an automobile.
