Covenant Health is the area’s largest employer and has more than 11,000 compassionate caregivers, expert clinicians, and dedicated employees and volunteers. The Cardiovascular Service line includes over 80 employed physicians, surgeons, and advanced practice practitioners across 19 clinics and outreach locations. The Vice President of Cardiovascular Services for Covenant Health is responsible for leading the service line by developing and implementing strategic plans, managing overall operations, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring that the service line delivers high-quality patient care and is aligned with health system established goals and objectives. The VP will oversee financial management, operational efficiency, physician relations, and regulatory compliance to drive growth and success in a competitive healthcare environment. The VP works closely with physician and administrative leadership at various hospitals across the organization. The position reports to the Executive Vice President, Physician Enterprise and Ambulatory Services. ResponsibilitiesPosition Accountabilities and Performance Criteria:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the organization’s short and long-term strategic goals in collaboration with physician and health system executive leadership. Identify opportunities for expansion and growth in cardiology services. Stay updated on healthcare trends, regulations, and innovations impacting the field of cardiology.

Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial and capital planning, and resource allocation to ensure financial stability and growth. Monitor financial performance, ensuring profitability and cost-efficiency across all areas of the service line. Develop strategies to optimize, grow revenue, and improve data analytics and financial reporting for the service line.

Operational Management: Ensure the day-to-day operations of the cardiology practices run smoothly and efficiently. Implement process improvements to enhance patient care, reduce costs, and streamline operations. Ensure appropriate staffing levels, including the recruitment, retention, and performance management of clinical and administrative staff. Develop strategies to improve patient experience and operational efficiency.

Physician Relations: Foster strong relationships with cardiologists and other physicians in the health system. Collaborate with physician leadership to align clinical operations with business objectives. Address any concerns or needs of physicians and clinical staff, ensuring their satisfaction and engagement. Work collaboratively with physician leaders in the service line.

Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Covenant Health cardiovascular services in the community, in the medical community, and with other state and national organizations as appropriate. Maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, hospital, other healthcare organization and medical group leaders, and the community.

Quality and Compliance: Oversee the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and industry best practices. Establish risk management policies and monitor adherence to ensure patient and staff safety.

People: Develop, implement and coordinate activities that support a healthy culture. Function as a liaison to ensure good flow of communication and information within the office, between offices and health system support departments, and with hospitals. Proactively address issues to support strong and healthy relationships between the service line and health system.

QualificationsPosition Qualifications Minimum Education: Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Hospital Administration. Minimum Experience: At least five (5) years of leadership experience in the healthcare environment. Experience should include a variety of increasingly complex supervisory/managerial assignments with demonstrated expertise in the management functions of planning, organizing, and leading. Requires effective communication, excellent financial and analytical skills. Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of management and with outside organizations and officials. Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems. Strong, positive track record in physician/medical staff relationships.
