Senior Category Analyst

The Sr. Category Analyst is responsible for managing internal commercial activities (contracting, pricing, market information) on an assigned book of business. The individual will work cross-functionally with outside sales partners, other key internal departments and provide support to the customer base. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, transaction-rich environment while delivering exceptional customer service is critical. This position may include direct and co-assigned managed accounts, as well as limited travel.  This role may also be combined with other responsibilities as directed by the Business Director. The Sr. Category Analyst will:  Essential Duties & Responsibilities Promote enhancement of customer relationships and instill service culture. Book of Business responsibilities will include some core customers with a solid base business and long-term development growth potential.  Support and maintain customer development plans along with Outside Team. Provide transactional and consultative support to established Book of Business via daily quote, forward contracting, pricing, market guidance, RFP/RFP responses and customer/category project needs.  Manage bookings and timely applications. Actively pursue business opportunities to drive additional volume and gross profit. Have a good understanding of cost components, pricing methodologies; knowledge of category and market components, and be able to give high level guidance on market conditions and purchasing considerations appropriate to customers’ needs. Perform regular pricing structure analysis in response to RFP requests, competitive opportunities & threats, changing cost metrics, and margin reviews to achieve goals and results.   Follow pricing management guidelines and their implementation. Support trend analysis by core customers and products to promote category growth. Function as conduit for Outside Sales and Customer feedback to the rest of the organization.  Support activities of Outside Sales force as instructed by direct manager.  Diligently work with Oil Procurement, Customer Relationships Team, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Technical Services and other key internal areas to support the needs of the Customer while balancing the profit center and company requirements and proactively channeling relevant market information and customer feedback to the appropriate internal groups. Provide forecast input and inventory follow up for the assigned category for short- and long-term business planning though established processes in the organization.  Responsible for up to approx. up to 200 MM Sales/Year or corresponding Gross Profit. Work on special projects/other departmental responsibilities as assigned.
