POSITION SUMMARY:
Act as crew in the operations of assigned traffic control projects for A-1 Barricades. Takes direction from the Operations Manager. Performs lane closures, road closures and detours on roadways. Redirect traffic for workers or survey crews. Works independently at times, and part of a larger traffic control crew other times. Deliver safety products to customers. This position requires a level headed, diligent and committed individual who is looking for a career.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Previous experience in traffic control set ups is preferred. Certification (from ATSSA) as Traffic Control Technician or Supervisor will drive a higher pay rate.
This job requires periodic 24/7 on call responsibilities, and little, but occasional, unexpected overtime.
Operates company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job site.
Place temporary construction signs in work area.
Place and operate arrow boards or changeable message boards in work area.
Place traffic cones or channelizers (drums) and other traffic safety devices in work area.
Check work zone throughout shift to be sure items are still in their proper location.
Pick up traffic control items at beginning and end of shift and load unto truck.
Install, remove and reset delineators, signs, posts and supports.
Shop work which may include general maintenance and repair of equipment.
Perform other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
A high school diploma (or equivalent), a valid Drivers License and a satisfactory driving record is required.
Basic reading/writing ability to comply with road signs, complete paperwork is also required.
Candidates must possess good knowledge of local Chattanooga and surrounding area roadways.
Ability to travel to various locations within 50 miles of Chattanooga (virtually no over night or weekend travelthat doesn't mean neverbut very rare)
Must be willing to work occasional overtime and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds and knowledge of safety procedures for securing and transporting cargo is essential.
