Southern Marine Construction Co., a Chattanooga, TN based Company is currently seeking to hire a full time Assistant Project Manager.
Since 1962, SMC has been a major Heavy Civil/Marine/Utility Contractor, mainly serving the Inland River Barge Industry within a 500 Mile Radius of Chattanooga, Tn.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend pre-bid walk throughs.
Help prepare Bids.
Developing and maintaining relationships with customer base.
Work directly with owners, construction managers, architects, engineers and contractors.
Work with safety managers to generate job specific safety plans.
Work with Pre-Construction and Field Supervision to identify and implement all contract deliverables, quality testing, and reporting requirements.
Assist in development, planning, and updating of overall project schedule.
Help define project scope, goals and deliverables.
Assist management with material procurement.
Recognize significant risk issues and review with management.
Help lead and support quality assurance.
Resource subcontractors, materials and equipment.
Provide leadership to others through example and by sharing knowledge and skill.
Requirements:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred or a combination of experience, technical training and/or education is acceptable.
Ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings.
Excellent communication skills and leadership ability.
High level of attention to detail and cost analysis.
Ability to use basic reasoning and to resolve issues quickly.
OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred. If not current, must receive within first year of employment.
Advanced Knowledge of construction industry safety procedures.
Ability to accurately read schedules for sequencing and durations of applicable scopes of work.
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office package.
Ability to multitask projects and keep each on schedule ensuring that all deadlines are met.
Be based in Chattanooga Tn with Marginal travel required for this position.
