Job SummaryThis position will report directly to the COO and be a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and is a key participant in system-wide strategic planning and other processes. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide strategic business leadership, development, evaluation and coordination of numerous information and technology systems. The CIO will have the vision to create solutions that meet the real business needs of clinicians and employees while aligning and driving technology objectives that support the strategic priorities of executive leadership.The CIO will also lead Technology Solutions’ strategic and operational plan to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future technology systems across the enterprise. Financial activities of the entire Technology Solutions department will be overseen with direct influence on appropriate staffing budgetary management, removing performance barriers and maximizing available resources. In addition, the CIO will be expected to provide transformational leadership to an IT team that exhibits the competencies of an interdependent, high-functioning partner to clinical and business operations areasIn addition to overseeing Technology Solutions and prioritizing projects, the CIO will grow and foster an organizational culture that leans into continuous process improvement methods to progress quality and efficiencies. The CIO will also be tasked with staying up-to-date of the latest developments, advancements and trends in health delivery technology to ensure optimal professional effectiveness and competence. Ensuring that all technology systems meet legal and regulatory requirements, such as those related to securing protected health information as defined by HIPAA is a crucial component in this role. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Chief Information Officer will:Provide enterprise leadership through strong working relationships and collaboration to develop strategic goals for information security compliance and risk mediation.Ensure a proactive cyber-security approach is taken and implemented to protect against advanced threats.Champion behaviors that inspire cohesiveness and move the organization to reach a vision.Design and implement training and development strategies that are in line with organizational business development to achieve organizational vision .Analyze opportunities and challenges of integrating existing and new applications.Create and implement a strategy for supporting current and future business needs.Identify the business costs, benefits, risks, and issues for alternative architectural strategies.Provide perspective on the evolution and impact of significant technologies.Manage multiple high-risk, high-cost projects involving various stakeholders.Lead by being transparent and approachable.Establish options to support business growth (i.e. reducing product development times, enabling strategic and operational decision-making, increasing productivity, improving customer service).Drive strategies for effective collaboration among key constituents, aggregate and prioritize business demand, and work with leaders to define, implement and govern IT needs.Develop vendor relationships into partnerships and alliances, leverage relationships to drive revenue, improve patient outcomes, increase external customer satisfaction, and enhance internal user acceptance.Lead by being transparent, approachable, diplomatic, even-keeled and visible.Translate the transformational IT vision to all system leaders across clinical and business operations areas.

Department DetailsResponsible for 700+ IT employees leading work in the following areas:• Clinical Applications (health services, research, long-term care and health plan)• Business Applications (enterprise and departmental)• Application Development• Virtual Care• Support Services (service desk, end user devices, & concierge service)• Business Partner Relationship Management• Portfolio, Program and Project Management• Service Management• Procurement• Technology Financial Management• Infrastructure (server, network, database, unified communications, storage, data center, cloud)• Information Security (engineering, security services and security operations center)• IT Risk Management• Identity and Access Management

QualificationsThe appropriate candidate for this position will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, health care administration, or a related field required and a minimum of 10 years of senior level IT management. It is preferred that this individual will also possess a minimum of five years of healthcare IT management experience with demonstrated success and expertise in broad information technology healthcare leadership, including: past successes implementing systems to support healthcare operations and/or electronic health records, improving customer satisfaction, innovative technologies, fiscal performance, and clinical quality. A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
