As the Technical Director for Water Resources, you will lead technical and specialist analyses and design efforts in water resource infrastructure planning, climate change impact assessments, adaptation and mitigation strategies, integrated catchment management and watershed planning. Your work will support a wide range of infrastructure projects across Africa and globally.
The successful applicant will be required to: Lead and build a team of water resources engineers and scientists, as well as mentor younger team members
Provide strong technical leadership
Perform water resources capability assessments, including hydropower potential assessments
Perform water supply and demand forecasting assessments
Feasibility studies for water resource infrastructure development
Work collaboratively at both an internal and external, client-facing level, developing new client relationships and maintaining existing networks within the business
Prepare proposals and participate in the development of bids and technical write-ups for proposals.Minimum requirements
Being recognized as a competent professional in their field
15 years’ professional experience in a similar role - essential
10 years’ experience in water resources (Hydrology) with 5 years’ experience in hydraulics - highly advantageous
Project management experience in water resources studies or water resources infrastructure planning or design – highly advantageous
Software proficiency with a form of water resources model, e.g. WRYM, ACRU, WEAP etc. - advantageous
Experience with planning or strategies for water security to deal with growing water requirements or drought is a big positive – advantageous
Experience in irrigation planning or design - highly advantageous
Experience in hydropower planning of design – advantageous
Experience in working with International Funding Agencies (World Bank, USAID, AFDB, etc.)
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
