We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.The OpportunityOur Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Automation Engineer (Maintenance) on a 1 Year Fixed Term contract in our Springhill Coupled Pickled Cold Mill (CPCM) team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.The Coupled Pickled Cold Mill is a highly automated processing line that uses a blend of old and new technology. The CPCM is toward the end of the steel-making process with the primary purpose of strip thickness reduction in preparation for the downstream steel coating processes. Reporting into the CPCM Automation Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving fixed plant assets within the department. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your goal will be to enhance operational productivity, achieve asset improvement targets by eliminating defects, maintaining our automation systems, carrying out improvement initiatives, and fault-finding automation equipment to maintain lines throughout the CPCM.This opportunity is a 1-year fixed-term position to see out the completion of work, with possibilities for future ongoing work in other areas of the Port Kembla Steelworks upon completion for the right applicant.What Will You Do?Working in the Automation team to deliver on equipment maintenance and asset performance, you will:provide automation control systems technical support, advanced problem-solving and fault-findingconduct problem-solving and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to understand critical failures and implement improvement actions.implement asset and cost improvement projectssupervise maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellenceassist with developing, maintaining and improving the maintenance strategy and capital project plans to increase reliability and minimise costassist to improve team effectiveness by identifying and closing technical knowledge gapsbuild effective relationships to drive the continuous up time of our CPCM department assets More About YouYou will hold a degree qualification in Electrical Engineering combined with suitable experience in relevant maintenance within manufacturing or heavy industry.
