This opportunity will be in our Power Generation generating plants.
Assisting with maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment of the generating unit at the assigned location. Includes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controllers, smart field devices, and Distributed Control System (DCS) controls.
Working with qualified I&C journeymen experienced in the maintenance of the power plant equipment.
Utilizing drawings, prints, CAD systems, etc.
Working with Operations personnel to understand and assist with the operation of power plant equipment.
Working in a physical environment involving climbing, bending and lifting of heavy power plant equipment, and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Occasionally working outdoors and during inclement weather.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Have permission of the Program Coordinator or Division Dean.
Must be enrolled at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College
Seeking degree in Electronics Engineering Technology; Industrial Electronics Technology; General Technology (Mechatronics – Primary; Industrial Maintenance – Secondary
Education RequirementsStudents applying for these co-op positions must meet the following minimum requirements:
Be enrolled as a student at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in a program leading to an associate degree.
Have completed at least four semesters of the courses required in the two-year associate degree program.
Have at least a 3.0 overall grade point average.
Graduation date 2025 or 2026
