AC/DC Electronics and Soldering TechnicianJob DescriptionBuild, test, and troubleshoot subassemblies or finished products using layouts, wiring diagrams, and written and verbal instructions. Work from drawings, specifications, and verbal instructions to assemble, install, and wire backplanes, subassembly carriers, and subassemblies into Communications System rack assemblies. Build prototype and new design hardware assemblies as required per engineering. Assist engineers to perform and validate test procedures. Inspect and package outgoing systems and materials. Help diagnose system or unit problems and suggest and implement production improvements. Provide in-house technical support for cable manufacturing and repair. Verify part numbers/revisions, complete parts order forms to pull stock inventory, and prepare assembly kits for production. Assist other personnel performing Acceptance Test duties with customer representatives. Install and configure computer clients, servers, and switches in a network environment. Perform system and subassembly inspections to verify quality requirements. Provide subassembly diagnostic testing and repair for warranty returns.Responsibilities

Essential Skills
Experience with electronics, subassembly, testing, configuration, and wiring diagrams.
Component level troubleshooting and knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems.
Proficient soldering skills.
Ability to use multimeter and other test instruments for basic functional test measurements and continuity checks.
Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Experience loading software applications on client and server computers.
Proficiency in basic Windows applications and compatible technology.
Ability to work independently and communicate progress/problems effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2-year technical degree.
Experience using system configuration documentation to assemble and test telecommunications equipment.
Knowledge of electronic hardware assembly techniques.
Trained or certified soldering skills desired.
Experience providing operational support within a production environment.
Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.
Work EnvironmentEngineering and lab environment. This position is onsite 5 days per week in Columbia, MD. The technician will be the only one onsite, although there is a small team of technicians in a separate building.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
