We are a global company with regional sales offices throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.Due to increasing growth, we are currently looking for an IT Software Developerto join our fast-paced North American Headquarters located in East Providence, RI.

Job Summary:Under supervision of the IT Manager - the Application Developer is responsible for supporting applications and code, including end user support, modification/development of applications utilized by igus and customization of off the shelf applications and inhouse custom software. Responsibilities include application debugging, customization, documentation and modifying underlying database objects.

Additional of Responsibilities:Responsibilities include but are not limited to administrative duties and any other duties assigned by IT services. Must be able to apply troubleshooting techniques to identify problems and research solutions. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent communication skills and organizational skills. Included are other duties assigned in any department that is deemed necessary by the company.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Experience with ERP systems and Visual FoxPro 9 required, administrative experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in development of software applications including legacy and current technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Visual FoxPro 9 (required), SQL server, Access and VB.
  • Understanding of a dialect of SQL query language is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Visual FoxPro 9, Access, Office 365, DOS, Windows 7 & 10 and batch files a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a professional, patient and friendly manner with non-technical staff.
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows desktop and notebook computers.
  • Experience in installations of software including set up, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in networking technology a plus.

Qualifications:
  • College degree in computer science, business or related discipline with an emphasis on software design, development and implementation or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Work experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment, information technology or related field.
  • 3 Years Work experience in business, information technology or related field.
  • 2 Years work experience in a distribution / manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to translate non-technical user requirements into business applications.
  • Available for evening and weekend on-call support as needed.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with technical and non-technical personnel is essential.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of SQL database objects and usage including T-SQL query, stored procedures, functions, tables, views and indexes.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing and distribution industries.
  • General knowledge of server operating systems, preferably MS Server.
  • Experience with server/application environments to facilitate design/implementation, improvement or troubleshooting within supported technologies.
  • Ability to effectively learn and apply modern technologies and programming languages as needed.
