Research Assistant - Precision Medicine - DayLocation: WellSpan Medical Group, York, PASchedule: Full TimeHours: M-F DayOccasional WeekendsFull Time: 40 hours/weekGeneral SummaryProvides assistance in support of research programs/projects as assigned. Assists in the general operation of the research program including record keeping, communications and customer service. Performs a variety of duties including data entry, data abstraction and other related activities. Strictly adheres to guidelines regarding honest, complete reporting of sensitive and confidential patient information. Understands the importance/impact of data integrity in terms of patient management, study results, cost efficiency, quality of service and the goals of scientific research.Essential Functions:
Collects, abstracts/codes and compiles patient clinical data for research purposes from a variety of sources including electronic records, medical charts, laboratory reports and clinical databases.
Develops databases or spreadsheets to monitor data collection and preparation for statistical analysis according to the requirements of each research project/program.
Enters data into database or spreadsheet, verifies accuracy, runs copies of computerized reports and files all reports. Corrects data as necessary.
May assist in performing basic statistical analysis of research data, developing reports, abstracts or manuscripts and graphics for presentation of research project status/results.
Assists investigators with special requests for data retrieval for research studies.
Assists in the preparation of documents required for the pre-implementation review and approval of research by the WellSpan Health Institutional Review Board in accordance with institutional guidelines/policies and research regulations.
Abstracts, codes and/or compiles data, maintaining records and logs of work performed.
Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides information according to established research protocols, programs and policies.
Composes research correspondence, memos, reports and minutes of meetings as requested.
Intermittently conducts literature searches and obtains/distributes relevant reference materials.
QualificationsMinimum Education:
Associates Degree Required
Bachelors Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
1 year Training in medical research and health information systems preferred
Training/experience in the responsible conduct of research, including medical/research ethics and protection of the safety and welfare of human subjects in research. Required
Any experience with Genomics would be a major plus
Epic experience is a plus
Strong Microsoft Office experience is required
Healthcare experience is strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
Versed in medical terminology, laboratory tests and use of medical records for data abstraction.
Ability to follow multiple, detailed directions.
Excellent computer skills including electronic patient information systems, word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, and graphics software.
