THE POSITIONThe Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) strives to provide the highest quality care for Pennsylvania's veterans and their families, as well as oversees and supports the members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (PNG). We are looking for a Legislative Aide to join our team and provide support to the Director of Policy, Planning, and Legislative Affairs. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Legislative Aide, you will provide legislative assistance to DMVA's Policy, Planning, and Legislative Affairs Office and support our interactions with senior staff, the Governor’s Office staff, and Congressional and General Assembly Offices. This work involves coordinating meetings regarding legislation that impacts our agency and its operations and constituents. In this administrative role, you will conduct legislative research and study for bill review and analysis. Quality communication skills are extremely important as you will reply to routine correspondence, draft correspondence to elected officials, review position papers and proposals, and assist with drafting legislative bill language. Another important aspect of this position is monitoring the introduction of and movement of pending legislation and pushing legislative priorities. Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in (LOCATION).

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of governmental experience, including one year of work directly related to legislative analysis; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

You must possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Willing and able to work in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania

Experience in varied office management or staff work

Experience with administrative or computer software applications such as database tracking

Work experience with military and/or veterans organizations
