Steel is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and celebrate the diversity of our employees.The Coal Blend Operating Technician will perform specialized analysis on coal, coke and gas samples for environmental compliance, process control and product development.General job duties include:

Operation of pilot scale facility

Troubleshooting and maintaining various laboratory equipment, including process gas chromatographs, NOx CEM, Opacity COMS and calorimeters.

Inspect, repair and maintain sample system for the analyzers, including sample probes, samples lines, thermocouples, chiller, pumps and valves

Field testing, physical and process observations in an industrial environment

Evaluation and interpretation data

Adherence to safety procedures.

Skills Desired:

Ability to learn the operation of instrumentation in a laboratory and plant environment

Strong mechanical and laboratory testing skill sets including familiarity with operation of computer-controlled test and data logging equipment

Familiarity with ISO standards and ability to perform ISO calibrations

Effectively communicate results

Ability to work collaboratively with other technicians in a team environment.

Experience or Qualifications Required:

Associate’s degree in Electronics/Chemistry or equivalent Technical degree

Willing to work both outside in a chemical plant atmosphere, as well as in a climate-controlled laboratory setting. Must be able to climb barrel ladders.
