DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe Audit Specialist 1's work includes utilizing best practices and generally accepted governmental audit practices to examine, evaluate, and report on the accountability, utilization, and management of funds administered by the Department of Transportation. You will aid in the formulation and negotiation of recommendations to adjust or modify operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies to improve the economy, efficiency and effective use of funds. Work involves the preparation and review of audit reports, utilizing professional judgement in the assessment of risk, selection of audit samples, materiality, and disposition of exceptions.Interested in learning more? Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

This position will be headquartered at a DOT office located closest to the candidate's current work location or home.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program within the previous eighteen (18) months ;or

A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in accounting, and auditing; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included the required eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 9 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
