We seek a computational biologist to collaborate on NSF funded projects involving functional genomics of wild and cultivated (Cacao) tropical trees. We have extensive and well-organized genome and transcriptome data that will provide extensive opportunities for new discoveries ranging from ecological processes to gene variants underlying agriculturally important traits. We expect this person to be a key participant in collaborations with faculty, post-docs, and students, while also having opportunities to pursue projects of their own initiative and design. Central thrusts of the research will include root - microbiome interactions, pathogen resistance, analyses of pathways involved in production of particular metabolites and defense-related compounds, and diversity of these features within and between species.Application Requirements:

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field (plant sciences, genetics, plant breeding or related disciplines with strong experience in bioinformatics, gene expression analysis and statistics) and provide evidence all requirements have been meet for the completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.This is a limited term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.More information about Penn State and resources for Postdoctoral scholars can be found in the following website: https://www.research.psu.edu/opa.
