Penn State's multi-billion-dollar Long Term Investment Pool (LTIP) is a diversified program invested across a variety of asset classes and strategies.The Office of Investment Management (OIM), together with Penn State Investment Council (appointed by the University's Board of Trustees), are charged with managing the LTIP for current and future program spending while preserving the long-term purchasing power of the overall portfolio. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the strategic design and oversight of Penn State's investment portfolios. The Associate Director, Investments will report to the person leading private equity investing for OIM. As a key member of a growing investment team, the position will monitor existing investment managers and conduct due diligence on new investment managers.The position will make recommendations to improve the process, the existing portfolios, and support the overall mission.The position will be primarily focused on private equity but offers an opportunity to have broad exposure to all asset classes and develop investment expertise in endowment management.As a member of OIM, you will be joining a team of individuals who have the ambition to help Penn State succeed.Requirements to express an interest

The Pennsylvania State University seeks an experienced and dynamic investment professional that will challenge and assist in the evolution of our investment beliefs. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment with a diverse team.The preferred candidate will possess:
Ability to assist in monitoring, analysis, and research for a complex portfolio of illiquid investment strategies in the Private Equity portfolio and other portfolios as required.
Ability to assist in due diligence of new and existing investment managers and strategies in the Private Equity portfolio and other portfolios as required.
Ability to act as lead project manager on research, investment process, and operational projects on an ad-hoc basis. Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of Investment Analysts on ad-hoc projects.
The ability to constructively challenge and respectfully debate topics, quickly synthesize information, and articulate complex investment issues and develop immediate credibility with a diverse audience and with people at all levels of understanding.
Poise, presence, excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking sk lls, and the potential to develop strong business relationships.
Initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks; advancing projects from ideas to outcomes.Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience considered would include conducting investment manager research, sourcing, and due diligence in an institutional investment setting (pension fund, endowment, asset management, consultant etc.) or similar. MBA or similar master's degree, CAIA, and/or CFA Charter-holder or progress towards preferred.
Willingness to travel meaningfully (25%), both domestically and less frequently internationally.Flexible Work Arrangements
