JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Security Access Specialist is responsible for physical security across university locations; provide support and troubleshooting for electronic access control, physical keys, and video surveillance; provide guidance with facility access administration and compliance with card access and key management policies; coordinate and/or conduct key audits.
Respond to security access administration requests to include but not limited to swipe card access, new system clearance requests, unlock/lock schedules, door groups, and account provisioning
Test, assign, approve, and remove user permissions
Troubleshoot card and door security issues; coordinate with field technician dispatched to investigate hardware issues
Retrieve, document, and destroy returned and obsolete keys; remove from specific inventories
Facilitate annual audit program and perform periodic spot audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
Advise on the management of departmental keys and that keys are administered and stored per policy
Respond to inquires such as lost and found keys and re-core projects; prepare security risk assessments and incident reports for unaccounted for keys
Review key request work orders for master, grandmaster, sub-master, and special keys; update key schematics
Assist with facility requirements relating to key coring of new building construction and renovation
Respond to inquires regarding video surveillance data requests; provide approved footage for users per vetted requests and document dissemination
Develop and deliver training regarding access policies, procedures, and best practices
Research, assess, and make recommendations and participate in the development of new and current policies and protocols
