Agile Coach (
Job Number: 2219039 ) Summary/Purpose: This critical position is responsible for the transition of the entire organization to achieve business agility and will continue to define and execute the organizations muti-year agile transformation vision in alignment with lean agile principles. This role will engage stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure there is alignment between the organizations mission, vision, and technology initiatives through the forming and stabilization of high performing cross functional product teams. Through continual coaching on agile and software engineering practices product teams will provide high quality, customer focused, faster to market solutions that will allow Penske to maintain a competitive advantage in key areas of the business. Major Responsibilities: Serve as a mentor to individuals and teams on agile principles & practices- Regularly attend team ceremonies to observe adherence to Penske agile practices
- Guide teams to help them stay on track with agile techniques, fine tuning approaches as needed to ensure the overall strategy being met.
- Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures to coach and guide team.
- Regularly conduct agile training for new hires to the organization to ensure shared understanding of organizational agile practices
- Conduct ad-hoc, open forum style agile discussions such as Agile Coffee, Coaches Office Hours, and other similar roundtable style discussions.
- Stay connected with current and emerging trends in technology & agile space; as such, the agile coach is expected to guide and suggest modifications to our prescriptive agile processes that align with our organizational constraints but also make sense within the larger agile landscape.
- Maintain open, constructive dialog with agile team providing direction on becoming a sustainable team. Share suggestions, best practices and provide guidance if team is unable to come up with solutions on their own (help kickstart)
- Work with Enterprise Agile Coach to Identify 10-20 key criteria for assessment, work with team to provide their own self-assessed value to each criteria. Provide "Coach Assessment" based on personal observations.
- Identify 2-3 areas to for the team to focus on over the coming sprints and revisit 60-90 days later to reassess team progress. Repeat regularly
- Creation of assessment based on agile values, principles, concepts & artifacts.
- Similar to team maturity assessment this should consider an aggregate view of all practicing agile teams across the organization to show a single view of the organizational agile maturity.
- Identify any common themes and work globally with agile teams to continue growth on the maturity scale.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineer, or Business Management
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification - Required
- One or more Agile Certificate(s) from industry recognized organizations (Scrum Alliance, ICAgile, Agile Coach Alliance etc) is preferred
- 5 years experience as an Agile Coach
- 2 years experience actively participating in an agile transformation within the enterprise
- Advanced knowledge of Agile values, principles and, methodologies
- Clear understanding of Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices
- Ability to organize and execute Agile Community Of Practice
- Understanding of Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) teams.
- Functional knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps
- Solid understanding of software engineering practices
- CI/CD
- Test Driven Development
- Test Automation
- Strong Facilitation Skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Prepare and lead team training for groups up to 20 people
- Prepare and lead executive training sessions.
- Analyze and resolve conflicts
- Persuasion & negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to start-up a new agile team
- Facilitation of extended agile learnings such as:
