Responsibility
Examine blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements for layouts and procedures
Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements
Fit and assemble metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.
Cut, bend, and shape metal components using a range of fabrication equipment such as saws, lathes, drill presses,
and grinders.
Weld or join metal components together using various techniques and methods including MIG, TIG, and ARC
welding.
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
Regularly maintain and clean all metal fabrication tools, equipment, and machinery used in the workshop.
General Skills & Qualifications
Professional certification, such as AWS (American Welding Society)
Experience with MIG and TIG welding
Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and work in confined spaces
Ability to prepare, read, and interpret blueprints, reports, instructions, procedures, and guidelines
Proven success as a welder
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
Good communication skills
High school diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge of math and/or science
