The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Full-Time Billing Specialist. The Billing Specialist position specializes in Billing and in Medical claims submissions. The Billing Specialist should have commitment to accuracy and timeliness; is responsible and self-motivated to work with minimum supervision; is calm under pressure, with the flexibility and adaptability to changing healthcare environment. This position will work 40 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Submits medical claims for third party reimbursement for the Pediatric Specialty Hospital, Pediatric Extended Care Center, and Physician Billing.
Follows up on submitted paper and electronic Medical claims; monitors unpaid claims and resubmits claims as necessary.
Works directly with insurance representatives to inquire about rejections or aging claims that are processed incorrectly.
Rebills adjusted claims electronically or on paper with proof of timely filing or documented proof required by insurance carrier.
Tracks MA and MA MCO's patients in excel for cost report purposes
Answers incoming phone calls from internal medical personnel and external patients and clients; resolves routine patient billing inquiries and disputes, and provides follow-up calls or written correspondence as needed
Creates patient and client visits as necessary within in EMR system.
Prepares billing for Adoption and Daycare services
Maintains all patient and client billing records
Posts all payments in the Electronic Financial Accounting System
Deposits all cash
Prepares monthly cash receipts journal
Assists with maintaining an accurate charge master
Ensures organization maintains credentials with states and payers
Performs filing, copying and clerical duties within the Accounting/Finance department
MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. 3 years Medical Billing experience required
2. Understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding
3. Ability to follow through and pay attention to detail
4. 1 year Accounting experience preferred
5. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Sedentary position must be able to sit for prolong periods of time.
2. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 25lbs as required to access file boxes, supplies, etc.
3. Manual dexterity necessary to operate computer, telephone and other typical office equipment.
4. Physical ability to perform job requirements of usual and customary office procedures and communications.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and work with others.
