Superior Skilled Trades is looking for an ASME Code Fitter/Welder to join our team in Chester, PA. The role will be responsible for supporting the fabrication of heavy gauge code storage tanks and vessels that support numerous industries including oil and gas, energy, chemical manufacturing, confectionery production, and waste/waste water industries.

Occasional Overtime: Saturdays, 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (as needed)

Pay: $24 to $29 based on experience
Position Summary:
This role involves fabricating and welding heavy gauge code storage tanks and pressure vessels to ASME standards. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in both MIG and TIG welding and capable of producing high-quality, test-passing welds in a fast-paced, industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG and TIG welding on heavy-gauge tanks and vessels per ASME code.
Deliver quality welds that pass visual, PT, MT, or X-ray inspections.
Set up and maintain welding machines, including replacing consumables and adjusting settings (volts, amps, wire speed, etc.).
Select correct filler metals for various welding tasks.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and use weld gauges accurately.
Prepare materials before welding (grinding, scale removal).
Keep work area clean and free of spatter or debris.
Notify supervisors when welding supplies need replenishment.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant welding/fabrication experience.
Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding on carbon and stainless steel.
Working knowledge of ASME codes and industry safety practices.
Ability to read fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
Comfortable with weld testing requirements (visual, PT, MT, X-ray).
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Must be able to pass a drug test and background check

Any additional PPE used for welding tasks
Be prepared to complete:
Weld Symbol Test – Interpretation of standard welding symbols
Blueprint Reading Test – Evaluation of blueprint reading ability
Weld Test – Flat V-groove weld with back grinding for full penetration testing
