Planning Intern

AECOM is seeking a Planning Intern to join our team in Philadelphia, PA.The position is expected to begin in May 2025.The intern will work under the direction of a team of transportation, environmental planning, urban design, and public involvement professionals to support a variety of different planning projects throughout the region.Responsibilities could include but are not limited to:Assisting with report research, writing, and setup, including literature reviews and case studies relevant to planning projectsVisualization, mapping, and document design support, utilizing software such as Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCADSupport for in-person or virtual public outreach, including venue selection, minutes, and preparation of public-facing communicationsPreparation of GIS mapping and spatial analysis to support planning decisionsData management, including collection, organization, and analysis of demographic, economic, and environmental dataAssisting in the development of comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and land use regulationsContributing to the creation of presentation materials for client meetings and public hearingsParticipating in site visits and field surveys to gather information for planning projectsAssisting in the preparation of grant applications and funding proposalsSupporting the team in project management tasks, such as scheduling and progress trackingCollaborating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate various aspects of urban planningResearching best practices in sustainable urban development and smart city initiativesAssisting in the development of transportation plans, including pedestrian and bicycle infrastructureContributing to environmental impact assessments and sustainability studiesParticipating in internal team meetings and professional development opportunities
