$158.00 per hour
8 hours per week - flexible scheduling

SUMMARY:
The Psychiatrist will provide recovery-oriented behavioral health service through the adult residential treatment programs which emphasize individual needs, strengths, choices, and involvement in service planning and implementation. The ultimate goal and outcome of the adult residential treatment program is to facilitate resident reentry into the least restrictive living option in the community. Services include: assessment, evaluation, collateral therapy, individual and group therapy, medication support, rehabilitation, linkage and consultation, placement, plan development and crisis intervention. This position is the lead clinician in the residential programs in charge of aspects of medical and psychiatric patient care services provided and monitors clinical performance to ensure psychiatric services and operations are in compliance with all applicable regulatory and licensing agencies. This position implements, reviews, and develops clinical protocols, performance objectives, compliance measure, and, with assistance from Elwyn management and provider input on workflow and planning and practice operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
In conjunction with the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), where applicable, evaluates patients by interviewing the individual, family, and other persons; conducts physical examinations; observes behaviors; reviews medical history and related documents; selects, administers, and interprets psychological tests; orders laboratory / diagnostic tests and evaluates results
In conjunction with the PMHNP, where applicable, develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishes treatment goals and methodologies
In conjunction with the PMHNP, where applicable, treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discusses progress toward goals with patients; provides instructions; monitors effect of medications; supervises staff provision of services
In conjunction with the PMHNP, where applicable, maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consults and collaborates with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, psychologists, nurses, and other health care providers
Assures quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, regulatory and licensing requirements, and legal regulations; participates in utilization reviews; remains availability for emergency consultations
Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events, and writes summaries
In conjunction with the PMHNP, where applicable, leads treatment team meetings in an organized manner that facilities a collaborative approach for all stakeholders involved, including the individual supported, the individual's family, Elwyn clinical team and staff, as well as county, regional, and payor members
Enhances departmen and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Collaborates with units' operational leadership to implement a robust and effective treatment program for those individuals supported
Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues
Completes continuing education as required for Pennsylvania (PA) licensure and updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
Serves as Medical Director for the assigned RTF / Crisis Residential units
Triages and treats emergent situations, as appropriate for the clinical setting, including referral of emergent conditions beyond the scope of care at location, as appropriate
Participates in Utilization Review (UR) and Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Improvement (QI) committees as necessary, and assists with policy development and adherence, ensuring compliance with standard psychiatric treatment guidelines
In conjunction with the PMHNP, where applicable, provides on-call and after hour coverage to respond to urgent matters
Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies, including but not limited to those pertaining to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), false claims, and whistleblower policies
Provides professional oversight for advanced practice nurses in accordance with collaborative practice agreements of Nurse Practitioners
Becomes a participating provider in third party reimbursement programs as directed by Elwyn
Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
Maintain an active medical license to practice in Pennsylvania in good standing
Board Certification or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Valid and current Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.) certification
Current, good-standing enrolment in the PA Medical Assistance Program
Three (3) years' experience in RTF or crisis residential practice preferred
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform, preferred
Must provide a listing of all healthcare settings wherein privileges have been granted
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
Demonstrated strong attention to detail
Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions
Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
Must be able to perform CPR and safe crisis management using agency-trained protocols
Demonstrated proficient experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
